Diseases of the ear, nose, and throat to watch out for

  • Sudden deafness or ear blockage is a condition in which the ear cannot receive sound suddenly. It often occurs in one ear for a short time or can last for a long time. If you experience sudden deafness, you should consult a specialist doctor because it may be the cause of other serious illnesses. This condition can have many causes, such as tumors or viruses, resulting in damage to the nerves between the ear and the brain in the future. It can be treated by visiting a doctor at an ear, nose, and throat clinic to identify the underlying cause and treat the condition accordingly.

  • Sinusitis is inflammation of the lining of muccasal nasal in cavity due to infection, resulting in swelling. The cause is from viruses and bacteria, causing the patient to have thick mucus, bad breath, sore throat, and cough. It can be treated with basic home remedies such as warm compresses or washing the nose with saline water. However, if the condition does not improve, it is advisable to visit a doctor at an ear, nose, and throat clinic.

  • Mumps can be transmitted through respiratory secretions from coughing and sneezing. Once infected, it can spread to other parts of the body. The cause is from a viral infection in the air. Patients will experience headache, dry mouth, fatigue, and swollen salivary glands. This disease cannot be directly treated, but symptoms can be alleviated until they disappear by using methods such as warm compresses, drinking clean water, avoiding acidic beverages, and seeking advice from a doctor at an ear, nose, and throat clinic.
